Martha "Marcy" M. (Mullican) Loats

A memorial service to honor the life of Martha “Marcy” M. Loats, will be held for both Marcy and Ken at 1 pm, Saturday November 4th, 2023 at the First Presbyterian Church

Martha “Marcy” M. Loats, age 82 of Granville, passed away Monday September 18, 2023, at Licking Memorial Hospital.  She was born on Christmas day in 1940 to the late Dorothy (Chescheir) and Charles N. Mullican, Jr.

She graduated from Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa. She obtained her master’s degree from the University of Iowa and a second master’s degree from The Ohio State University. She taught physical sciences at The Ohio State University, Newark for over two decades.

Marcy was a dedicated and treasured member of the First Presbyterian Church of Granville, where she was involved with the choir, The Quilters, served as an Elder, Presbyterian Women, and was a Stephen Ministry leader. Additionally, she wrote a reoccurring weekly article called "Reflective Moments" for the e-mailed church newsletter.

She was an avid reader and enjoyed puzzles.   What Marcy treasured most was her loving family.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her devoted husband of 58 years, Ken Loats on June 1 of this year; her son, Jim, in 2015; and sister, Alice.

Marcy is survived by her son, Stephen Loats; daughter, Sarah (Anthony) Zimmermann; daughter-in-law, Carrie Loats; grandchildren, Jason, Aeryn, Carina and Max, and brother Charles N Mullican III, MD.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Central Ohio.
