Marta L Klemetti

Marta L. Klemetti, a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away January 15, 2021 at her home in Granville, Ohio at the age of 78. She was born in Pereira, Colombia to the late Guillermo and Josefina Gonzalez.

After growing up in Colombia with her sisters, Marta moved to the United States in the early 1970’s when she married Wayne Klemetti of Westminster, MA and there, together, they raised their two children. She was employed by Digital Equipment Corporation and later became a teacher’s aide at Westminster Elementary School which lead to the position of school librarian. Marta then enjoyed a long-time career as the children’s librarian at Forbush Memorial Library in Westminster where she also served as president of the Friends of the Library for many years and organized the annual ice cream socials.

In 2017, the love of grandchildren and the desire to spend time with them brought Marta and Wayne to Granville which made the doting efforts much easier. Marta remained a devout Catholic and served as an Eucharistic Minister for many years at St. Edwards in Westminster and was a parishioner at St. Edwards in Granville. She loved birds, soccer, books, and telenovelas throughout her life.

Surviving are her husband of 47 years, Wayne; children and their spouses, Erik and Susan Klemetti and Kristina and Patrick D’Onofrio; beloved grandchildren, Esa, Hazel, and Nic; sisters, Nora, Libia, Mercedes, and Melba; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary Gillies, and Barbara and Lee Stayton; nieces and nephews, Maria Lochner, Federico and Sebastian Benitez, Erik St. Grey, and Kathy, Michael, and Tom.

In addition to her parents, Marta was preceded in death by her sister, Dila and brother-in-law, Daniel Benitez.

A private service will be held at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Westminster.
