Julianne "Julie" Rausch Obituary

Julianne “Julie” Rausch, age 90 of Granville, passed away March 25th at Middleton Senior Living, Granville. She was born July 31,1933 in Dennison, Ohio to the late Harry and Luella (Shivers) Gotshall.

Julie was a 1951 graduate of Dennison High School and a 1954 graduate of White Cross School of Nursing later known as Riverside-White Cross School of Nursing.

Julie and her husband, Ray Rausch, married on October 8th, 1954. Upon graduation from nursing school, she accompanied her husband to Japan where she worked in the Army Hospital in Shinjuku, Japan while they lived in Tokyo, and he served in the Army. They had many fond memories of that time and the people they met.

Throughout her 44-year career, Julie worked in various venues including as a nurse for Newark City Hospital (Licking Memorial Hospital), as an office nurse for a local physician group, as a teacher at LCJVS now known as C-TEC, and as Director of Regulatory and Quality Assurance at Ohio Health Care Association, among others. She was also instrumental in developing the regulations for the STNA licensure program. Even as a resident at Middleton, she discussed the future nursing careers of many staff there, providing both insight and encouragement.

She enjoyed volunteering and spent many hours at Licking Memorial Hospital, including helping to develop the orientation program and orienting new volunteers. She regularly served on the Health Ministry Team at Centenary United Methodist Church in Granville. She also enjoyed singing with the Vintage Voices and participated in many concerts over the years.

She is survived by her children, Lynn Rausch, Kurt Rausch, Beth Castillo (Barry Wade); her grandchildren, Matthew Dickinson (Jessica), Jacob Dickinson, Andrew Dickinson (Katie); 8 great-grandchildren, Frankie, Matty, Ray, Aiden, Ashten, Braelynn, Dryden, and Lilly; nephews and nieces Britt and Lori Thrush; Ward Henderson, Heather Provost and Connie Kelly, as well as many extended family members and friends.

Julie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ray Rausch; sister, Rosemary (Jack) Thrush.

Julie’s family wishes to acknowledge the care and support she received from Middleton Senior Living and the many staff who worked with her through the years. A special thank you to Amber Williams and her team. Appreciation also to the hospice staff who assisted her most recently with extra care and support.

A graveside service will be held Monday April 1st at 1:00 PM at Maple Grove Cemetery in Granville.
