John C. "Jack" Hood

A funeral service celebrating the life of John C. “Jack” Hood, 84, of Granville, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, October 1, 2021 at McPeek-Hoekstra Funeral Home, 133 S. Prospect St., Granville with Rev. Susan Britton as celebrant. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Granville. The family will receive friends from noon until the time of service which will begin with a Masonic Service conducted by Aerospace Lodge, #800 F. &A.M..

Jack passed away Monday, September 27, 2021 at Licking Memorial Hospital in Newark. He was born in Granville to the late Raymond H. Hood and Katherine Isabelle (Halsey) Hood.

A graduate of Granville High School, Jack was retired from the State of Ohio Department of Transportation, District 5 where he was a well-traveled inspector. He was a member of Heath United Methodist Church, Aerospace Lodge #800, and the Licking County Friendship Club. Jack will be remembered as a man of solid character who was caring and had the ability to strike up a friendship or conversation with anyone.

Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Nancy; sons, John Kenneth and James Robert; step grandson, Brandon Parker.

In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Hood.

The family would like to express their gratitude for all the love, support, and prayers they received through Jack’s time of illness. Most especially Ross Berry and Jim Foster for their extra care.
