David J. Gaul

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for David J. Gaul, 68, of Granville, at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at The Church of St. Edward the Confessor, 785 Newark Granville Rd., Granville with Msgr. Paul P. Enke as celebrant. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Granville.

Dave passed away on Monday, March 27th at OSU’s James Cancer Hospital after a short bout with cancer. Surviving David are his devoted wife of 45 years, Patty; sons and daughter-in-law, A.J. Gaul, and Patrick and Shelby Gaul; grandchildren, Maggie (Adam) Anakalea, Hunter, Bailee, Henleigh, and Murray; brother, Thomas (Lynne) Gaul; and sister, Susan (David) Berg.

Dave was born to the late Albert L. and Phyllis C. Gaul in Bradford, PA and after attending Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, joined Owens Corning Fiberglass, where he enjoyed 30+ years of service. Dave enjoyed an active lifestyle; spending any opportunity to golf or hunt with his sons.

At 58 Dave retired to pursue his passion of training Labrador retrievers for field trial and hunt test competitions. His accomplishments and dedication to training were only surpassed by his devotion and loyalty to his family. Dave will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather who never missed an opportunity to attend his grandchildren’s activities.

The family will receive friends Friday, March 31st form 5-7 P.M. at McPeek-Hoekstra Funeral Home, 133 S. Prospect St., Granville. Online condolences may be expressed at www.mcpeekhoekstra.com.
