C. Marie Smith Obituary

Marie Smith, most beautiful and loving mother, passed from this earth to be with the Lord on December 10, 2020 peacefully in her home in Columbus, Ohio at the age of 91.

Marie was born in Penn Yan, New York, to the late Otto and Nellie Hansen. She became a Christian at the age of 9, through the loving kindness of Frances Taylor, and many other members of the First Baptist Church in Penn Yan.

As a graduate of Geneseo State Teachers College, Marie was proud of the following achievements:

Listed in the WHO’s WHO among American Colleges & Universities in 1951; President of the Interfraternity Council and the Dance Club; Secretary of Kappa Delta Pi Scholarship Society; Chaplain for the Arethusa Society.

Marie was a member of the Old Beechwold TWIGS in Columbus, raising money for Children’s Hospital.

She enjoyed bicycling, musicals, was a talented singer and dancer, performing in the musical genre, of Gilbert and Sullivan, and a gifted floral gardener.

Surviving are her children and their spouses, Don Smith and Debbie Flower-Smith, Lynn Beaber, Paul Smith, Michele Willis, and Greg and Angie Smith; nine grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her three brothers and one sister.

A private service will be held in the Chapel at Maple Grove Cemetery in Granville with Rev. Casey Wilson as celebrant. Online condolences may be expressed at www.mcpeekhoekstra.com.
