            Virginia died November 14, 2017 at Wesley Glen Retirement Community in Columbus.  She was born Feb. 10, 1923 in Toledo, Ohio to Margaret (Dunkerly) and Otis L. Wallis.  At 4 years of age, she moved with her family to Youngstown, Ohio where she lived until 1950.                                   

            Virginia was a graduate of South High School and Youngstown Business Machines.  She was employed at General Fireproofing in the payroll department during the war years.

            In Jan. 1943, she married Curtis L. Hanni.  They eventually moved to Lima, Ohio in 1950 where they raised two daughters.  Virginia was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church and Eastern Star.  In 1963, they moved to Cincinnati where they lived for 32 years.  She was an active member of Hyde Park United Methodist Church and was employed at Christ Hospital until her retirement in 1976.

            She and her husband moved to Granville Ohio in 1995 where they spent their senior years.  In Granville, she was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, Tulip Circle, Monday Talks, Fortnightly, and Music Club.

            Surviving are her daughters, Susan Seibert (William) of San Jose, CA, and Kristine Close (Cameron) of Newark; grandchildren, Kristine (Guy) Bazan, Sarah (Scott) Goodwin, Lydia (Peter) Sniderman, Megan Close (Charles Girdlestone), and C. Michael (Rhieana) Close; great-grandchildren, Olivia and Cameron Close III , Joaquin and Carmen Bazan, Lillian Pearl and Henry Girdlestone, and Shila and Gideon Sniderman; and brother, James G. Lyle, Jr.

            Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis L. Hanni; parents, Margaret Wallis Lyle and James G. Lyle; and brothers, Dan B. Wallis and Robert N. Wallis.

            A memorial service to celebrate Virginia’s life will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, Dec. 16, 2017 at Centenary United Methodist Church, 102 E. Broadway, Granville with Rev. Bob Long as celebrant. A luncheon will be held at the church following the service and all are invited.
