A graveside service with family and friends will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, August 4, 2017 for Terri Lyn Van Wy, 53, of Newark, at Maple Grove Cemetery in Granville with Rev. Karen J. Chakoian officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-8 P.M. Thursday at the McPeek-Hoekstra Funeral Home, 133 S. Prospect St., Granville.

Terri Lyn fought a long hard battle with brain cancer only to lose with grace and dignity on Sunday, July 23, 2017 at her home with her sons and her dog, Zeus, by her side. Daughter of Lynn Miller Connelly and step dad, Craig Connelly, and Terry Van Wy.  Terri Lyn was born in Newark in 1964 and grew up a country girl north of Granville.

A 1982 graduate of Utica High School and Licking County JVS, Terri Lyn excelled in both academics and sports. She participated in track, volleyball, and basketball and was named MVP her senior year in Volleyball and was a member of the All County Team for basketball. From age 9-16, she was active in the Granville Horse 4-H Club. Like her mother, Terri Lyn had a strong love for horses, winning many Blue Ribbons on her horse, Tiny Comanche.

After graduation, Terri Lyn attended Nationwide Beauty College and used her artistic flair in cosmetology and hair styling working at David Sanor and other shops.  She eventually opened her own shop, “The Look” in old Central City.  Her outgoing personality, cheery disposition, and anxiousness to please made an easy transition to her additional career as a server. She loved both jobs and did them well. She will be remembered for her caring heart, beautiful smile, and her involvement in her sons’ lives.

In addition to her parents, surviving are her sons, Logan T. Van Wy and Zachary S. Page; step brother, Adam Connelly (Tia Pauley) and their son, Van; step sister, Kate Connelly (Kirk) Robinson and their children, Audrey, Magnolia, Leo, and Lucinda; uncle, Brian Connelly; aunts, Ruthann Dixon and Kendra Miller; many cousins; and so many wonderful friends.

The family would like to thank many family members and dear friends whose visits, love, and support made Terri Lyn’s life a little better and happier during her illness.  And also a special thank you to Hospice of Central Ohio.
