Sally A. Messick

A funeral service celebrating the life of Sally A. Messick, 57, of Granville, will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, July 7, 2017 at Spring Hills Baptist Church, 1820 Newark Granville Rd., Granville with Pastor Gary Kirkpatrick as celebrant. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5-8 P.M. in the Fireside Room at the church.

Sally passed away Sunday, July 2, 2017 at Arlington Care Center in Newark. She was born in Newark to Harriett (Wells) and the late Donald F. Messick.

A 1978 graduate of Granville High School, Sally earned a degree in secretarial science at C.O.T.C. in Newark. She had been employed as a care-giver with Home Instead, secretary at Spring Hills Baptist Church, and Ross Labs in Columbus. Sally was an active member of her church and sang in the choir and with Vintage Voices. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and crafts.

Always the optimist, Sally made the most of all situations and could fill a room with her presence. She will be remembered for her compassion, giving spirit, and great sense of humor. Her thoughtfulness for others was often exhibited in subtle and very personal ways.

Sally is survived by her mother; sisters and brothers-in-laws, Sondra and Harry Hottinger and Holly and Michael Maloy; sister-in-law, Julie Todd Messick; nieces and nephews, Anna and Chris Gilnett, Georgie and Tim Matthews, Mary Frances and Taylor Wright, Hattie and Kenny Lamberti, Chip Messick, Jonathan Hottinger and his daughter Audrey, Andrew Hottinger, Megan Hottinger, Hannah Maloy, and Maddie Maloy; and many great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her father, Sally was preceded in death by her brother Rodney C. Messick and feline companion, Buster.
