Rebecca L. Shannon

A celebration of life gathering for Rebecca L. Shannon, 64, of Newark, will be held at 5:00 P.M. Friday, February 2nd at the Owens Corning Union Hall, 350 Hudson Ave., Newark. Dress casually and plan on having a good time, after all it’s what Becky wanted!

Becky was born in Newark to the late Robert L. Shannon and Phyllis Shannon of Heath. She passed away January 28, 2018 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center in Newark.

A graduate of Granville High School, Becky furthered her education at Riverside School of Nursing and embarked on a 31 year nursing career where she was employed at Licking Memorial Hospital, traveled and nursed in Hawaii, and retired from Arlington Nursing Home in 2008.

Fun, family, football, hanging out with her nieces and nephews, and cheering on the boys at their little league games were some of Becky’s greatest joys in life. Always the entertainer, she just had to show up for the fun to begin. A trait that will be missed by those that knew her.

Surviving are her mother, sister and brother-in-law, Jenny and Kent Davis; niece, Tracy Hysell and her husband Jeremy; nephew, B.J. Davis; great nieces and nephews, Justin, Dylan, Devin, Cherydan, and Hailee; and canine friend to all, Chloe.

In addition to her father, Becky was preceded in death by her companion of many years, Tom Sutton.
