Paul Addison Goodridge

          Paul Addison Goodridge, 91, of Granville passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2017 in Newark at the Selma Markowitz Care Center operated by Hospice of Central Ohio.  He was born in Newfane, NY to the late George Edwin.Goodridge and Rena Clay Goodridge. 

          A U.S. Army veteran, Paul proudly served his country during WWII, 97th Infantry Division, and was awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious service in a combat zone. Following the end of the war in Europe, Paul was sent to Japan to serve in the Occupation. In 1946, after returning home from his service, he resumed his education at Denison University graduating in 1950 earning a degree in Chemistry.  He worked at North American Aviation for 15 years before retiring from Owens Corning Science and Technology Center in Granville where he was credited with several patents for his work.  

          Paul was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity at Denison and served many years as a trustee for Gamma Xi chapter.   He was also a member of Granville American Legion Post 398, Centenary United Methodist Church, and volunteered for Habitat for Humanity.  Paul was a gifted woodworker. He was a man of great character and a true patriot who loved his country.  He treasured his family, especially his grandchildren, and will always be remembered as a wonderful father and husband. 

          Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Betty J. (Young) Goodridge; daughters and sons-in-law, Paula Goodridge  Ebbatson (James); Courtney G. Capute (Arnold J. Jr.); son, George W. Goodridge (Dianne); grandchildren, Caroline S. and Arnold J. Capute, III, and Paul John and Luke Addison Goodridge; and several nieces. 

          He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Carol Gordon and two brothers, James and Robert Goodridge.

          A private graveside service will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery with military honors rendered by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.
