Michael I. A. Yoder, CPL, U.S. Marine Corps, of Newark, Ohio died unexpectedly at the age of 23 on Aug. 8, 2019. He was born in 1996 in Columbus, OH to Aprille D. (Yoder) Jordan.
After graduating from Newark High School, Michael enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps where he proudly served his country from 2015 – 2019 with Engineer Equipment as an Electrical Sytems Tech. He was honorably discharged from active duty this past May and was employed with Cummings as an electrician. He was a member of the ROTC Color Guard and competitive shooting team. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and cooking. Michael was known for his contagious smile and sense of humor that coined him as a prankster. He had a heart of gold with his cheerful attitude and willingness to help or give to others. He was a man of great honor, perseverance, optimism, and courage. Semper Fi!
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his step-father, John Jordan; brother Kendrick McClure; sister, Torri Readnour; step-sister, Shelby Jordan; maternal grandparents, Steven and Gloria Yoder; great-grandmothers, Kathy Spears and Joanne Yoder; aunt, Amber Flowers; and cousins, Ariona and Paris Brown, and Ember and Azaiah Flowers.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, Aug. 15, 2019 from 2 to 4 P.M. and 6 to 8 P.M. at the McPeek-Hoekstra Funeral Home, 133 S. Prospect St., in Granville. A graveside service will be held Friday, Aug. 16, 2019 at 2 P.M. at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Newark with full military honors.
