Loren W. Poff Obituary

Loren W. Poff, born on October 13, 1926 in Newark, OH, passed away on February 19, 2018 in Bolivia, NC. A graduate of Granville High School in 1943, he enlisted immediately in the V-12 Naval Program, serving until the end of World War II. He graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in Civil Engineering. Loren spent nearly 40 years with Frank Messer & Sons Construction Company in Cincinnati, Ohio where he rose from Field Engineer to Executive Vice-President. He oversaw the construction of many new commercial buildings in the tri-state region, including 13 buildings at Miami University in Oxford.  He was a past President of the Associated General Contractors of Ohio (AGC), past President of Madeira Schools Planning Commission and a former Sr. Warden of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Madeira.  He was an avid golfer and past member of Kenwood Country Club. Loren enjoyed his many friendships in Cincinnati, Lafayette, LA and The Villages, FL. 

He was preceded in death by Virginia Deitz, his beloved wife of 45 years; and by Mary Beaulieu Poff, his second wife. He is survived by his wife Revella Poff of The Villages, FL. He is also survived by 2 children - Greg Poff of Calabash, NC and Debbie Poff Fletcher of Ocala, FL; and by 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Brenda Tolliver of Newark, OH; and his sister-in-law Geneva Poff of Newark, OH.  Visitation will be held from 1-2 P.M. on Tuesday, Feb 27th at McPeek-Hoekstra Funeral Home, 133 S. Prospect St., in Granville, and the funeral service will immediately follow at 2:30 P.M. at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 107 E. Broadway, in Granville.  Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (www.alzfdn.org).
