Gwendolyn F. Williams

A funeral service celebrating the life of Gwendolyn F. Williams, 85, of Granville, will be held at 3:00 P.M. Friday, June 9, 2017 at Centenary United Methodist Church, 102 E. Broadway, Granville with Rev. Bob Long as celebrant. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Granville.

Gwen passed away Saturday, June 3, 2017 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center in Newark. She was born in Hanover, Ohio to the late Harold S. and Florence (Levingston) Rector.

A retired assistant in the Controller’s Office, Gwen was employed at Denison University for 44 years. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Granville where she served as assistant treasurer and with the United Methodist Women, as an officer and on the bereavement committee. Additionally, she was a member of the Tulip Circle and former treasurer of College Town House, Fort Nightly Travelers Club, Granville Music Club, and Federated Clubs. Gwen enjoyed rooting for the Buckeyes, Dallas Cowboys, and Cleveland Browns when she wasn’t playing a good game of dominos.

Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Rodney and Kathia (Davies) Williams; two step grandchildren; eight step great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Ronald and Mary Kay McKenzie; sister-in-law, Rita Rector; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Gwen was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Franklin E. Williams who died in 2013.
