I am saddened to hear of Erma's passing but immensely thankful for the time spent getting to know her during my tenure at KaG. She was a beautiful, friendly woman with an incredible soul. My condolences to the family at the passing of such a treasure.

We remember very fondly going to church for the first time in Granville in 1966. Erma was sitting behind us and at the end of the service she tapped us on the shoulder and welcomed us as Denison students---Louise turned around eight months pregent---Erma was a little embarrassed! Erma was a wonderful mentor in teaching Connie Acklin and I how to take over the church kitchen and cook for a huge crowd. Enjoyed working with her also on College Town Board. Memories of her will linger in our minds forever. Love, Klaus and Louise

Erma was a rose among the dandelions. She maintained her sense of humor and grace even when surrounded by all those boisterous and sometimes irreverent boys. Always ready with a smile, a hug and usually something delicious to eat, Erma was warm and welcoming to anyone who crossed the doorstep of her lovely home. She graciously hosted a wedding shower for us nearly 46 years ago and, until very recently, continued to be in touch through Christmas cards and notes. She generously shared some of her wonderful recipes, so if anyone is yearning for one of Erma's famous sticky buns, the recipe still lives! Though the term "lady" is not always considered politically correct these days, Erma really exemplified all the good things that the word used to mean. She was sensitive and caring but could also be a strong believer in tough love.
My mom, Marge Neff, also asked that I share her sadness and her love with Erma's family. Mom, now 97 as well, said, "Well, when you get to be our age, some of our friends start to leave us." The truth, of course, is that my mom may be the last living member of her group of friends. Erma, and all of these women, worked hard to build healthy families and to help make Granville the community that it is. We will miss you, Erma.

The true thread of what makes Granville special is epitomised in life of Erma and her soulmate Myron. Family, friends and community were treated by her/their soft spoken, gracious and involved demeanor, which truly gave us a wonderful model to follow. We wish the family peace during the celebration of her life.

Erma was always very welcoming to us boys who frequented the Rutledge driveway to play basketball. She was a great mother to Eric, Steve, and David Rutledge, with whom I played many sports while growing up (basketball, baseball, golf, football). I remember Myron from all of the times at the Granville Golf Course (now Denison Golf Club) . Erma would tee it up sometimes, too!
A beautiful lady! RIP Erma!

I knew Erma for almost the entire time I've been alive. Growing up, our families lived on the same block and her son Steve was my best friend. I have too many wonderful memories of her to try to recount here. I live in Hawaii, but whenever my wife and I made it back to Granville, we always tried to visit Erma. She was always so gracious and engaged. She was one of the great ones.

I am so sorry to learn of Erma's passing. My fond memories of this lovely woman span 60 years -- from my childhood days, when us neighborhood children could always count on a warm welcome at her house, to recent years at Kendal, where she always had an encouraging smile and positive word for my dad. She was a very special person and she will be greatly missed.

Was very saddened to see Erma had passed. I have many fond memories of Erma playing in the Ladies League at Granville Golf Course. She always had a smile for me and asked me what I was up to.
