Ann Masse Obituary

Ann M. Masse, 92, formally of Vestal, NY, peacefully passed away September 27, 2018 at her home in Newark, Ohio. She was born in Woonsocket, Rhode Island to the late Anthony and Catherine Ruddy.

Ann was a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design and a member of St. Mary’s Parish in Pawtucket, RI. She was passionate about golf, and she also enjoyed knitting, sewing, reading, and all things Irish.  Her greatest joy was being with her children. Her love of life, her sense of humor, her youthful attitude and her love of family defined who she was and what she will be remembered for.

Surviving are her children and their spouses, Catherine (Carl) Kotheimer, Paul R. (Mable Pavelka) Masse, Peter J. (Jeanine) Masse, Michael J. (Sheri) Masse, and Mary (Burgess Evans) Masse; grandchildren, Michelle, Shawn, Theresa, Kevin, Jennifer, and David; 2 great granddaughters, Bella and Charli Ann; brother, Lawrence (Barbara) Ruddy; much younger sister, Gertrude Hammond and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Paul R. Masse, and her brother, Anthony Ruddy.

The Masse family would like to express their love and gratitude for the care and compassion of Amy Twyman and the staff of Sharonbrooke Assisted Living Facility in Newark, Ohio where Ann lived for the past 5 years.  Often, Ann talked about how happy and content she was to be living there.  The family’s gratitude is also extended to Hospice of Central Ohio for their inestimable help in these last few months, especially to Gayle and Shelly.

A memorial service will be held in the chapel at Sharonbrooke, 920 Sharon Valley Rd., Newark, OH on Wednesday, October 17th from 6 to 7 pm.  A private graveside service will be held at Mount Saint Mary Cemetery in Pawtucket, Rhode Island where Ann will be interred with her husband and family.
