Ruth Ann Fleming, 84, formerly of Granville passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation Center in Newark after a very brave 7 year battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was born Wednesday, June 8, 1932 to Irvin L. and Gertrude Bauman in Newark. She graduated from Kirkersville High School in 1949 as the Salutatorian of her class and a Kirkersville High School Cheerleader.

Ruth Ann spent most of the 1960’s working in the Kirkersville, Church Street and downtown Offices of the Park National Bank as a Teller where she met her Husband of 56 years (Jim) when he would deposit his paycheck each week. After adopting their Son, Jack in March of 1969, Ruth Ann spent the remainder of her life at home first in Heath and later in Granville as a very proud Homemaker. 

She was a member of Christian Endeavor United Methodist Church in Newark and several Twig organizations at Licking Memorial Hospital. She was an avid Gardener who enjoyed her extensive collection of house plants in their Granville home of 43 years. She was also an avid Cincinnati Reds and Ohio State Football fan of many years and enjoyed many trips to Cincinnati with her Husband and son from the 1970's through 2011.

Surviving are her Son, Jack Fleming of Granville; Brother Richard E. (Lila) Swetnam of Granville, Nieces Brenda Woolpert of Pataskala and Linda (Roger) Ridgely of Colorado Springs, Nephews Richard L. (Vicky) Swetnam of Lebanon, Ohio and Randy E. (Sharon) Swetnam of Logan, Ohio and various extended Family.

In addition to her Parents, Ruth Ann was preceded in death by her Husband of 56 years, James A. Fleming, in August of 2015. 

Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 21, 2016 from 6-8 P.M. at McPeek-Hoekstra Funeral Home, 133 S. Prospect St., Granville, where brief memorial remembrances will be shared at 7 P.M. with the participation of those attending. Online condolences may be expressed at www.mcpeekhoekstra.com. Ruth Ann’s cremains will be spread by her son, Jack, in a chosen location near Dresden, Ohio with her Husband at a later time.
