I knew Julia through United Church of Granville. She had the gift of making me feel interesting and valued. I loved her and Bill. They're together now, hugging and laughing.

Julia was my neighbor (two doors down) before I moved from Granville in1966. I was one of the youth of Granville who took piano lessons from her. Her sons were playmates of my brothers Doug and Dick and me. Our daily baseball game in the summer was played on the back lot of their home. I lost contact with most of my Granville friends when I moved, but my father continued to get the Beacon from the First Baptist Church. At his death, I transferred The Beacon to me, and I continued to follow the lives at First Baptist. 4 or 5 years ago, I attended a family retreat that the church held at a local camp. And with joy, I reconnected with Julia. She knew exactly who I was, and asked MANY questions about my parents and brothers. Throughout the weekend, she told everyone about my family. In Granville, I was Margaret Dewey, and she made sure that everyone there knew who I was.

I never knew about most the accomplishments in her life, until I read her obituary. WOW. What a wonderful lady she was. I'm sorry that I didn't know her during all of the 50 years after I moved. I only knew her during a small slice of her life, as my childhood neighbor, who taught piano, and the parent of my friends Bill and Tim. But those are wonderful memories.

My condolences to her family. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers this week. I leave you with a special thought --- "I promise you this, there will come a time when a smile comes to your face, before a tear comes to your eye" .

Being a past patient of Dr. Brodie was a life changing experience for me. At desperate times in my life she was the thread that held me together. I gave her a framed picture of a deep mountain lake and told her she helped me find my " well of peace " Over the years she has helped me many times. I will never forget this wonderful woman . Bless you all in your time of loss.

Julia was my neighbor, my mentor, my role model, my friend, and she gave generously in all those roles. What an amazing life she lived! And she used all her experiences for learning and growth that she then drew on to enrich the lives of all those she encountered.

Julia & Bill were our friends. The world is better because of their love for life, adventure, travel, nature and people. If you were lucky enough to have visited the farm and experienced one of their corn roasts you experienced the joy they gave freely.

I had the honor of working with Julia when I was a psychiatric nurse. Her caring spirit shown through in all she did. God blessed us all richly in knowing this kind and gentle soul. May God be with all who grieve her loss. Liz

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. It is always hard to lose someone even if they had an awesome life. I loved reading about her passions and am lucky enough to remember her being around for most of my own life. She showed us how you can live fully no matter your age. You all remain in my thoughts and prayers.
