**A MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR JOHN & ANNALOU WILL  BE SATURDAY, MARCH 24, 2018 AT FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH AT 1:00 PM**

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 A.M. for John E. Campbell on January 18, 2018 at Newark Memorial Gardens Chapel with Rev. Karen J. Chakoian as celebrant. Military honors will be rendered by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.

John passed away January 7, 2018 at Sharon Brooke in Newark. He was born in Licking County to the late John C. and Milicent Wilson Campbell on September 12, 1926 and graduated from Newark High School in 1944. He then served two years in the Merchant Marines.

A former employee of A.H. Heisey & Co. and Owens Corning, John retired in 1989 from Denison University where he had worked with support staff for 36 years.

A long-time member of First Presbyterian Church, John served as Deacon, co-leader of the youth group, and on the Properties and Parish Care committees. Civically, he was a former member and chief of the Granville Fire Department, Kiwanis Club of Granville, Hanover O.E.S., New Home Lodge, and Warren Chapter and Bigelow Council.  He was honored with the Rotary Service Above Self award and the Kiwanis Legion of Merit for his community efforts. He enjoyed camping, hunting, trap shooting, bowling, golf, and his Honor Flight in 2010.

Surviving are his sons and daughters-in-law, John David and Patty and Duane Lee and Beth Campbell; grandson, Colin; extended family, Mike and Deb and Matt and Rebecca Kocsis; nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by the love of his life and wife of 69 years, Annalou Haynes Campbell who died October 22, 2017; sister and brother-in-law, Regina and Robert Covey; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Rachel and Paul Irelan; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Paul and Orena Haynes; nephews, Roy and Roger Haynes and John Miller.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 17th from 5-7 P.M. at McPeek-Hoekstra Funeral Home, 133 S. Prospect St., Granville. Online condolences may be expressed at www.mcpeekhoekstra.com.
