A celebration of life will be held for Dorothy M. “Dottie” Klauder, 93, of Granville, February 11, 2017 from 2 to 4 P.M. at Kendal at Granville.
Dottie passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at Kendal at Granville. She was born July 8, 1923 in Niagara Falls, New York to the late Ernest and Mae (Peters) Bigger.
A graduate from Cornell University with a major in Home Economics, Dottie was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her love of adventure and thirst for life lead her on many extended trips camping, touring, and absorbing the local cultures of Europe and South America with her husband and children. Locally, she was co-owner of Bryn Mawr Restaurant and was the marketing and publicity force behind this beautiful mansion. She co-ordinated the annual “Art Fair” on the grounds, to highlight the local artists in Licking County.
Dottie cherished her family vacations spent in Georgian bay, Canada and will be remembered for her lust for life, positive attitude, and her genuine interest in others, and willingness to “play”.
Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, John and Anne Klauder of Granville, Phil and Christine Klauder of North Carolina, and Peter and Mary Lou Klauder of Alaska; son-in-law, Jim Hartman; eight grandchildren, Adam Klauder (VA), Ben Klauder (NC), Krista Messner (Granville), Kory Hartman (Lima), Emily Grzelakowski (Chicago), Ben Klauder (NYC), Jasmine (OR), and Sage (AK); and 12 great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Allie, Madison, Cooper, Helen, Amelia, Samuel, Caroline, Will, Maggie, Christopher, and James.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, David S. Klauder and daughter, Karen Hartman, who died March 12, 2016.
